Project Size: ~600 SF
Curved Entry is a new mudroom addition with a deck for a growing family of five. The intervention provides a new, more functional entry related to the existing garage while providing additional storage space for outdoor clothing and equipment.
The form of the new addition gently curves to provide generous natural light and views to the deck and backyard. The new deck softly extends into the backyard landscape and integrates with the kitchen by retaining the existing exterior door. The deck is large enough to accommodate a generous table and grilling station for gatherings of family and guests.
The addition seeks to simultaneously blend with the material of the existing house while announcing itself as something different and unique using a clear stained wood rainscreen system to compliment its curved, peeling geometry.
