Boston, Massachusetts (2012)
This handrail morphs a traditional wood profile into a subtle moment of unexpected form. It exists as one piece composed within an interior commercial fit-out on Newbury st. in Boston, MA. The extruded profile of the handrail gently twists 90˚ just as the handrail makes its last bend to the horizontal. The piece was digitally fabricated with a CNC robotic arm, a process that also informed the design of joining the individual segments together.
