Cambridge, Massachusetts (2011)
Poise Chair combines design parameters of working posture, efficient manufacturing, and a structural assembly into a task chair prototype. The chair utilizes several twist-and-snap connections that allow for the chair to become more rigid when it is sat upon, and creates an open angle between the upper leg and the torso, thereby promoting good posture. Three of these chairs could be CNC cut from one 4x8 sheet of 1/2” material. Working exclusively with friction fit and twist-and-snap joints, the chair takes approximately 20 minutes to assemble by hand.
